This article explains the easiest way to tune your guitar.

Like many instruments, there are a number of non-standard tunings. This article covers the common, standard way.

Hard Way

The hard way to tune your instrument is by listening to the correct pitch and tuning your instrument to that. For details see tuning methods.

To do it this way, click on the links below to listen to the correct pitch for each string.

Tip: copy these to your MP3 player so you've got them handy wherever you are.

Easy Way

The easy way to tune your instrument is by using frequency analysis software which tells you if your instrument is out of tune. One such software package is Audio Tuner.

This software listens to you play your guitar, and tells you if it is out of tune, and by how much.
